Recommended tools for some keys
Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

About the Caps Lock replacement key
A replacement Caps Lock key for the Logitech MX Keys, supplied with its hinge: a key used all day long, replaced on its own rather than with a new keyboard. A genuine salvaged part: the Caps Lock key is taken, pre-owned, from a dismantled keyboard and shipped without a dome.
Compatibility
This Caps Lock keycap fits the full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac) in the QWERTY (US) layout. The MX Keys Mini has its own proportions for this key, so this cap is not meant for it.
The Caps Lock key: position, size and wear
The Caps Lock key is a control key that is held or struck all day long, alongside the letters. It is struck with a sweeping movement, seldom dead centre. On a cap this wide, an off-centre press loads only one side of the scissor hinge: that side is the one that splits, and the Caps Lock key then leans towards it or catches.
How to install it
Fitting the Caps Lock key takes no tools. Unclip the old cap from a corner, clear away the broken hinge, clip the new one in the same orientation, then press the middle and both ends in turn — a key this wide leans if one side is not engaged.
Caps Lock key — questions
- Will the Caps Lock key fit my MX Keys?
- Yes, if it is a full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac) in the QWERTY (US) layout: the Caps Lock key has exactly this shape there. Not on the MX Keys Mini, where this key has other proportions.
- Is the hinge included with the Caps Lock key?
- Yes. The Caps Lock key ships with its scissor hinge, so it also fixes a key that lost its clip. The rubber dome under the Caps Lock key is not included: yours stays on the keyboard, and a spare can be ordered separately if it is damaged.
- My Caps Lock key feels loose or uneven after fitting — what should I check?
- Take the Caps Lock cap off again and check that the hinge is clipped onto all its anchor points; if a metal wire sits under the key, make sure it is engaged in its clips. Then press the centre of the Caps Lock key before its ends.
Check your keyboard's brand
You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
