Recommended tools for some keys
Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

About the - / _ replacement key
A - / _ key for the Logitech MX Keys, with its hinge: the exact punctuation of your layout, to replace a key that broke or went missing. No copy here: the - / _ key comes, pre-owned, from a dismantled keyboard, and arrives without the rubber dome, which stays on yours.
Compatibility
This - / _ keycap is a one-unit cap from the alphanumeric block: it clips onto the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac, which all use the same key size across that block. Only the legend changes from one layout to another; this one is QWERTY (US).
The - / _ key: position, size and wear
It carries “- / _”, characters specific to the QWERTY (US) layout: the legend is what matters here, since a cap from another layout would clip into the same spot with different symbols. A key this size has no stabiliser, so all of its support comes from the X-shaped hinge and its four anchor points. When the - / _ key starts to lean or comes away, that hinge is nearly always what failed, well before the cap.
How to install it
Allow under a minute to refit the - / _ key, bare-handed or with a plastic spudger: free the old hinge if it is broken, clip the new one in the same orientation, then press straight down on the cap until you feel a soft click.
- / _ key — questions
- Will this - / _ keycap fit my MX Keys S?
- It does, full-size or Mini: the - / _ key has the same one-unit cap on all four models. Only the legend depends on the layout — QWERTY (US) for this one.
- Is the hinge included with the - / _ key?
- Yes, the X-shaped hinge comes with the - / _ key — it is often the part that broke. Only the rubber dome is not supplied: it stays in place on the keyboard under the - / _ key, and domes are sold in packs among our spare parts.
- My - / _ key still doesn't work after I replaced the cap — why?
- A key that goes down normally but types nothing points to the rubber dome, sold separately; if the - / _ key wobbles, it is the hinge, supplied with it. When several keys next to the - / _ key fail at the same time, the cause is inside the keyboard, not under the cap.
Check your keyboard's brand
You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
