Very easy to replace

2 minutes, no need to take the keyboard apart. No skills required.

  1. Lift the old key by one corner, straight up, with a fingernail or a spudger.
  2. Clip the supplied hinge onto its hooks.
  3. Set the new key on top and press the centre until it clicks.

Recommended tools for some keys

Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

Compatible with these Logitech keyboards

On these keyboards, this genuine MX Keys key takes the place of the official one: same scissor mechanism and mounting, with a legend and finish that may differ slightly.

About the ` / ~ replacement key

A ` / ~ key for the Logitech MX Keys, with its hinge: the exact punctuation of your layout, to replace a key that broke or went missing. The ` / ~ key is a genuine Logitech part, pre-owned, taken from a dismantled keyboard; the rubber dome is not supplied, as the one on your keyboard stays in place.

Compatibility

Across the letter and number block, the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac share the same one-unit cap, so this ` / ~ keycap fits a full-size model and a Mini alike. Choose it by its legend — here, the QWERTY (US) layout.

The ` / ~ key: position, size and wear

On the full-size MX Keys, the ` / ~ key sits on the bottom row of the letter block, right next to the left Shift key. In touch typing, it belongs to the left little finger. Its legend, “` / ~”, belongs to the QWERTY (US) layout; physically, a symbol key from another layout has the same shape, but it would print the wrong characters. Like every one-unit key, the ` / ~ key has no metal wire underneath: it is held only by its scissor hinge, clipped onto four anchor points. Once one clip gives way, the key tilts, pops off or falls out, while the cap itself is often intact.

How to install it

Fitting takes no tools. If the old hinge under the ` / ~ key is split, remove its fragments; seat the one supplied, hold the new cap flat above it and press the middle — a click tells you it is held.

Step-by-step guide: swapping an MX Keys key and its hinge

` / ~ key — questions

Does this ` / ~ keycap fit my Logitech MX Keys?
Yes, whichever version you have: this ` / ~ keycap is a one-unit cap shared by the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac. Just check that your keyboard uses the QWERTY (US) layout, so the printed characters match.
Is the hinge included with the ` / ~ key?
Yes. The ` / ~ key ships with its scissor hinge, so it also fixes a key that lost its clip. The rubber dome under the ` / ~ key is not included: yours stays on the keyboard, and a spare can be ordered separately if it is damaged.
I changed the cap on the ` / ~ key, but it still types nothing — what now?
If the ` / ~ key was unresponsive rather than physically broken, the fault usually lies in its scissor hinge, included here, or in the rubber dome underneath, sold separately. Replace the hinge first, then the dome if the ` / ~ key still feels mushy.

Check your keyboard's brand

You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
