Recommended tools for some keys
Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

On these keyboards, this genuine MX Keys key takes the place of the official one: same scissor mechanism and mounting, with a legend and finish that may differ slightly.
Where is the right Shift key and what does it do?
On a full-size Logitech MX Keys, the right Shift key sits on the right edge of the main block, below Enter, above the right Ctrl key. It does the same as the left Shift: held down, it types capitals and the upper character of dual-legend keys.
About the Shift (R) replacement key
A replacement Shift (R) key for the Logitech MX Keys, supplied with its hinge: a key used all day long, replaced on its own rather than with a new keyboard. Genuine Logitech and pre-owned, the Shift (R) key was removed from another keyboard; only the rubber dome is not included.
Compatibility
This Shift (R) keycap fits the full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac) in the QWERTY (IT) layout. The MX Keys Mini has its own proportions for this key, so this cap is not meant for it.
The Shift (R) key: position, size and wear
After the space bar, the right Shift is the longest key on the keyboard. It is held for capitals typed with the left hand, by the tip of the right little finger, near its left edge. On a cap this wide, an off-centre press loads only one side of the scissor hinge: that side is the one that splits, and the Shift (R) key then leans towards it or catches. The longer the key, the more a press at one end acts as a lever.
How to install it
Lift the old Shift (R) cap by one end, remove the damaged hinge and clip in the one supplied. If a metal wire sits under the key, hook it into its clips first; then press the centre, then each end, until the Shift (R) key sits flush and springs back evenly.
Shift (R) key — questions
- Where is the right Shift key and what does it do?
- On a full-size Logitech MX Keys, the right Shift key sits on the right edge of the main block, below Enter, above the right Ctrl key. It does the same as the left Shift: held down, it types capitals and the upper character of dual-legend keys.
- Will the Shift (R) key fit my MX Keys?
- Yes, if it is a full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac) in the QWERTY (IT) layout: the Shift (R) key has exactly this shape there. Not on the MX Keys Mini, where this key has other proportions.
- Is the hinge included with the Shift (R) key?
- Yes: cap and hinge arrive together. The dome, the small rubber cup that makes the Shift (R) key spring back, is not part of the order; the one on your keyboard is reused, and a spare dome can be ordered on its own.
- My Shift (R) key no longer gives capitals — is it the key?
- Try the other Shift key. If that one works, it is indeed this key: its hinge or its dome. If neither responds, the fault is not in the cap.
Check your keyboard's brand
You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
