Recommended tools for some keys
Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

On these keyboards, this genuine MX Keys key takes the place of the official one: same scissor mechanism and mounting, with a legend and finish that may differ slightly.
Where is the Backspace key and what does it do?
On a full-size Logitech MX Keys, the Backspace key sits at the end of the number row, above Enter. It deletes the character to the left of the cursor, or the selection; Ctrl + Backspace deletes the whole word. To delete to the right of the cursor, use the Delete key.
About the Backspace replacement key
A replacement Backspace key for the Logitech MX Keys, supplied with its hinge: a key used all day long, replaced on its own rather than with a new keyboard. A genuine salvaged part: the Backspace key is taken, pre-owned, from a dismantled keyboard and shipped without a dome.
Compatibility
This Backspace keycap fits the full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac) in the QWERTY (PT) layout. The MX Keys Mini has its own proportions for this key, so this cap is not meant for it.
The Backspace key: position, size and wear
The Backspace key is 2 units wide, a unit being the width of a letter key. It is struck by the right little finger, often several times in a row, with the hand stretched. On a cap this wide, an off-centre press loads only one side of the scissor hinge: that side is the one that splits, and the Backspace key then leans towards it or catches. The longer the key, the more a press at one end acts as a lever.
How to install it
Lift the old Backspace cap by one end, remove the damaged hinge and clip in the one supplied. If a metal wire sits under the key, hook it into its clips first; then press the centre, then each end, until the Backspace key sits flush and springs back evenly.
Backspace key — questions
- Where is the Backspace key and what does it do?
- On a full-size Logitech MX Keys, the Backspace key sits at the end of the number row, above Enter. It deletes the character to the left of the cursor, or the selection; Ctrl + Backspace deletes the whole word. To delete to the right of the cursor, use the Delete key.
- Does this Backspace keycap fit my Logitech MX Keys?
- Yes, if it is a full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac) in the QWERTY (PT) layout: the Backspace key has exactly this shape there. Not on the MX Keys Mini, where this key has other proportions.
- Is the hinge included with the Backspace key?
- Yes: cap and hinge arrive together. The dome, the small rubber cup that makes the Backspace key spring back, is not part of the order; the one on your keyboard is reused, and a spare dome can be ordered on its own.
- My Backspace key feels loose or uneven after fitting — what should I check?
- Take the Backspace cap off again and check that the hinge is clipped onto all its anchor points; if a metal wire sits under the key, make sure it is engaged in its clips. Then press the centre of the Backspace key before its ends.
Check your keyboard's brand
You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
