Recommended tools for some keys
Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

Where is the Alt Gr key and what does it do?
On a full-size Logitech MX Keys, the Alt Gr key sits on the bottom row, between the space bar and Fn. Held down, it types the third character printed on some keys: @ (Alt Gr + à), # (Alt Gr + 3), € (Alt Gr + E) or square brackets. On a Mac it becomes Command (⌘).
About the Alt Gr (R) replacement key
A replacement Alt Gr (R) key for the Logitech MX Keys, supplied with its hinge: a key used all day long, replaced on its own rather than with a new keyboard. Genuine Logitech and pre-owned, the Alt Gr (R) key was removed from another keyboard; only the rubber dome is not included.
Compatibility
This Alt Gr (R) keycap fits the full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac) in the AZERTY (FR) layout. On the MX Keys Mini, Ctrl and both Cmd / Alt keys are only 1.125 units wide, so this cap does not fit there.
The Alt Gr (R) key: position, size and wear
The Alt Gr (R) key is 1.25 units wide, a unit being the width of a letter key. It is held by the right thumb for every third-level character, on the edge nearest the space bar. On a cap this wide, an off-centre press loads only one side of the scissor hinge: that side is the one that splits, and the Alt Gr (R) key then leans towards it or catches.
How to install it
Fitting the Alt Gr (R) key takes no tools. Unclip the old cap from a corner, clear away the broken hinge, clip the new one in the same orientation, then press the middle and both ends in turn — a key this wide leans if one side is not engaged.
Alt Gr (R) key — questions
- Where is the Alt Gr key and what does it do?
- On a full-size Logitech MX Keys, the Alt Gr key sits on the bottom row, between the space bar and Fn. Held down, it types the third character printed on some keys: @ (Alt Gr + à), # (Alt Gr + 3), € (Alt Gr + E) or square brackets. On a Mac it becomes Command (⌘).
- Is the Alt Gr (R) key compatible with my MX Keys keyboard?
- Yes, if it is a full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac) in the AZERTY (FR) layout: the Alt Gr (R) key has exactly this shape there. Not on the MX Keys Mini, where Ctrl and both Cmd / Alt keys are narrower (1.125 units).
- Is the hinge included with the Alt Gr (R) key?
- Yes. The Alt Gr (R) key ships with its scissor hinge, so it also fixes a key that lost its clip. The rubber dome under the Alt Gr (R) key is not included: yours stays on the keyboard, and a spare can be ordered separately if it is damaged.
- My Alt Gr (R) key feels loose or uneven after fitting — what should I check?
- Take the Alt Gr (R) cap off again and check that the hinge is clipped onto all its anchor points; if a metal wire sits under the key, make sure it is engaged in its clips. Then press the centre of the Alt Gr (R) key before its ends.
Check your keyboard's brand
You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
