Very easy to replace

2 minutes, no need to take the keyboard apart. No skills required.

  1. Lift the old key by one corner, straight up, with a fingernail or a spudger.
  2. Clip the supplied hinge onto its hooks.
  3. Set the new key on top and press the centre until it clicks.

Recommended tools for some keys

Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

Compatible with these Logitech keyboards

The key shipped is a compatible MX Keys key: same scissor mechanism and mounting as the original, with legend and finish that may differ slightly depending on the keyboard.

About the Alt Gr (R) replacement key

A replacement Alt Gr (R) key for the Logitech MX Keys, supplied with its hinge: a key used all day long, replaced on its own rather than with a new keyboard. The Alt Gr (R) key is a genuine Logitech part, pre-owned, taken from a dismantled keyboard; the rubber dome is not supplied, as the one on your keyboard stays in place.

Compatibility

This Alt Gr (R) keycap fits the full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac) in the AZERTY (FR) layout. The MX Keys Mini has its own proportions for this key, so this cap is not meant for it.

The Alt Gr (R) key: position, size and wear

The Alt Gr (R) key is a control key that is held or struck all day long, alongside the letters. It is struck with a sweeping movement, seldom dead centre. On a cap this wide, an off-centre press loads only one side of the scissor hinge: that side is the one that splits, and the Alt Gr (R) key then leans towards it or catches.

How to install it

Lift the old Alt Gr (R) cap by a corner, remove the damaged hinge and clip in the one supplied. Lay the Alt Gr (R) key flat, then press the centre and each end: on a key wider than a letter, one side left unseated makes it lean.

Alt Gr (R) key — questions

Does this Alt Gr (R) keycap fit my Logitech MX Keys?
Yes, if it is a full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac) in the AZERTY (FR) layout: the Alt Gr (R) key has exactly this shape there. Not on the MX Keys Mini, where this key has other proportions.
Is the hinge included with the Alt Gr (R) key?
Yes, the X-shaped hinge comes with the Alt Gr (R) key — it is often the part that broke. Only the rubber dome is not supplied: it stays in place on the keyboard under the Alt Gr (R) key, and domes are sold in packs among our spare parts.
My Alt Gr (R) key feels loose or uneven after fitting — what should I check?
Take the Alt Gr (R) cap off again and check that the hinge is clipped onto all its anchor points; if a metal wire sits under the key, make sure it is engaged in its clips. Then press the centre of the Alt Gr (R) key before its ends.

Check your keyboard's brand

You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
