Recommended tools for some keys

Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

About the Arrow Up replacement key

A Arrow Up key for the Logitech MX Keys, supplied with its hinge, to replace a navigation key that cracked, wobbles or went missing. Genuine Logitech and pre-owned, the Arrow Up key was removed from another keyboard; only the rubber dome is not included.

Compatibility

This Arrow Up keycap fits the full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac), where the arrows are full-height keys; the MX Keys Mini uses half-height arrows of another shape. The legend is that of the QWERTY (US) layout.

The Arrow Up key: position, size and wear

On the full-size MX Keys the arrows are full one-unit keys laid out in an inverted T; on the MX Keys Mini they are half-height keys of another shape, so the two do not swap. An arrow takes long runs of quick presses, and its hinge, with no metal wire under it, is what eventually cracks.

How to install it

Fitting takes no tools. If the old hinge under the Arrow Up key is split, remove its fragments; seat the one supplied, hold the new cap flat above it and press the middle — a click tells you it is held.

Guide: replacing a broken MX Keys arrow key

Arrow Up key — questions

Will the Arrow Up key fit my MX Keys?
Yes on a full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac); no on the MX Keys Mini, whose arrows are half-height keys.
Is the hinge included with the Arrow Up key?
Yes: cap and hinge arrive together. The dome, the small rubber cup that makes the Arrow Up key spring back, is not part of the order; the one on your keyboard is reused, and a spare dome can be ordered on its own.
I changed the cap on the Arrow Up key, but it still types nothing — what now?
If the Arrow Up key was unresponsive rather than physically broken, the fault usually lies in its scissor hinge, included here, or in the rubber dome underneath, sold separately. Replace the hinge first, then the dome if the Arrow Up key still feels mushy.

Check your keyboard's brand

You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
