Very easy to replace

2 minutes, no need to take the keyboard apart. No skills required.

  1. Lift the old key by one corner, straight up, with a fingernail or a spudger.
  2. Clip the supplied hinge onto its hooks.
  3. Set the new key on top and press the centre until it clicks.

Recommended tools for some keys

Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

About the A replacement key

Missing the A on your Logitech MX Keys, or has it stopped responding? This is the key on its own, hinge included, ready to clip in where the old one was. A genuine salvaged part: the A key is taken, pre-owned, from a dismantled keyboard and shipped without a dome.

Compatibility

This A keycap is cut for QWERTZ (DE) keyboards and fits the MX Keys Mini as well as the full-size MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac: across the alphanumeric block, both chassis use the same 1U cap. The legend is that of the QWERTZ (DE) layout.

The A key: position, size and wear

The A key sits on the main typing block, among the most frequently pressed keys on the keyboard. It also does double duty in Ctrl + A, which selects everything. With no metal wire under a one-unit cap, the A key rests entirely on its scissor hinge. A press at an angle, a fingernail slipped underneath or a vigorous clean is enough to tear one of its clips.

How to install it

Fitting takes no tools. If the old hinge under the A key is split, remove its fragments; seat the one supplied, hold the new cap flat above it and press the middle — a click tells you it is held.

Guide: repairing or replacing an MX Keys key, step by step

A key — questions

Does this A keycap fit my Logitech MX Keys?
Yes. On the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac, every key of the letter and number block has the same one-unit cap, the A key included; what has to match is the layout, here QWERTZ (DE).
Is the hinge included with the A key?
Yes. The hinge travels in the parcel with the A key, ready to fit; what you will not find is the rubber dome, which never leaves your keyboard and is sold separately if needed.
I changed the cap on the A key, but it still types nothing — what now?
If the A key was unresponsive rather than physically broken, the fault usually lies in its scissor hinge, included here, or in the rubber dome underneath, sold separately. Replace the hinge first, then the dome if the A key still feels mushy.

Check your keyboard's brand

You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
