Very easy to replace

2 minutes, no need to take the keyboard apart. No skills required.

  1. Lift the old key by one corner, straight up, with a fingernail or a spudger.
  2. Clip the supplied hinge onto its hooks.
  3. Set the new key on top and press the centre until it clicks.

Recommended tools for some keys

Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

Compatible with these Logitech keyboards

On these keyboards, this genuine MX Keys key takes the place of the official one: same scissor mechanism and mounting, with a legend and finish that may differ slightly.

About the A replacement key

A replacement A key for the Logitech MX Keys, supplied with its hinge: a letter that pops off, leans or stops typing is a one-minute repair, not a new keyboard. Genuine Logitech and pre-owned, the A key was removed from another keyboard; only the rubber dome is not included.

Compatibility

Across the letter and number block, the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac share the same one-unit cap, so this A keycap fits a full-size model and a Mini alike. Choose it by its legend — here, the AZERTY (FR) layout.

The A key: position, size and wear

On the full-size MX Keys, the A key sits on the top letter row, just below the digits, right next to Tab. In touch typing, it belongs to the left little finger. Beyond typing, it drives the Ctrl + A shortcut, which selects everything. A key this size has no stabiliser, so all of its support comes from the X-shaped hinge and its four anchor points. When the A key starts to lean or comes away, that hinge is nearly always what failed, well before the cap.

How to install it

Allow under a minute to refit the A key, bare-handed or with a plastic spudger: free the old hinge if it is broken, clip the new one in the same orientation, then press straight down on the cap until you feel a soft click.

Guide: repairing or replacing an MX Keys key, step by step

A key — questions

Does this A keycap fit my Logitech MX Keys?
Yes, whichever version you have: this A keycap is a one-unit cap shared by the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac. Just check that your keyboard uses the AZERTY (FR) layout, so the printed characters match.
Is the hinge included with the A key?
Yes. The A key ships with its scissor hinge, so it also fixes a key that lost its clip. The rubber dome under the A key is not included: yours stays on the keyboard, and a spare can be ordered separately if it is damaged.
My A key still doesn't work after I replaced the cap — why?
If the A key was unresponsive rather than physically broken, the fault usually lies in its scissor hinge, included here, or in the rubber dome underneath, sold separately. Replace the hinge first, then the dome if the A key still feels mushy.

Check your keyboard's brand

You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
