Recommended tools for some keys

Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

About the A replacement key

A replacement A key for the Logitech MX Keys, supplied with its hinge: a letter that pops off, leans or stops typing is a one-minute repair, not a new keyboard. No copy here: the A key comes, pre-owned, from a dismantled keyboard, and arrives without the rubber dome, which stays on yours.

Compatibility

Across the letter and number block, the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac share the same one-unit cap, so this A keycap fits a full-size model and a Mini alike. Choose it by its legend — here, the AZERTY (FR) layout.

The A key: position, size and wear

The A key sits on the main typing block, among the most frequently pressed keys on the keyboard. Beyond typing, it drives the Ctrl + A shortcut, which selects everything. With no metal wire under a one-unit cap, the A key rests entirely on its scissor hinge. A press at an angle, a fingernail slipped underneath or a vigorous clean is enough to tear one of its clips.

How to install it

The A key needs no tools: unhook the old cap at a corner, take out any remains of the hinge, clip the supplied hinge in flat, then press the new cap down until you hear the click.

Guide: removing an MX Keys key without breaking the clip

A key — questions

Does this A keycap fit my Logitech MX Keys?
It does, full-size or Mini: the A key has the same one-unit cap on all four models. Only the legend depends on the layout — AZERTY (FR) for this one.
Is the hinge included with the A key?
Yes. The A key ships with its scissor hinge, so it also fixes a key that lost its clip. The rubber dome under the A key is not included: yours stays on the keyboard, and a spare can be ordered separately if it is damaged.
I changed the cap on the A key, but it still types nothing — what now?
If the A key was unresponsive rather than physically broken, the fault usually lies in its scissor hinge, included here, or in the rubber dome underneath, sold separately. Replace the hinge first, then the dome if the A key still feels mushy.

Check your keyboard's brand

You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
