Recommended tools for some keys
Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

About the Cmd / Alt Gr replacement key
Is your Cmd / Alt Gr key leaning, catching or off altogether? This Cmd / Alt Gr key for the Logitech MX Keys comes on its own, hinge included, and refits without tools. Genuine Logitech and pre-owned, the Cmd / Alt Gr key was removed from another keyboard; only the rubber dome is not included.
Compatibility
This Cmd / Alt Gr keycap is cut for QWERTZ (DE) keyboards and fits the MX Keys Mini only. The full-size MX Keys uses a different geometry for this key — on the Mini, the function row is shorter, the arrows are half-height keys and the modifiers are narrower. Only letters, digits and special characters, all 1U, swap between the two chassis. The legend matches the QWERTZ (DE) layout.
The Cmd / Alt Gr key: position, size and wear
The Cmd / Alt Gr key is a control key that is held or struck all day long, alongside the letters. It is struck with a sweeping movement, seldom dead centre. On a cap this wide, an off-centre press loads only one side of the scissor hinge: that side is the one that splits, and the Cmd / Alt Gr key then leans towards it or catches.
How to install it
Lift the old Cmd / Alt Gr cap by a corner, remove the damaged hinge and clip in the one supplied. Lay the Cmd / Alt Gr key flat, then press the centre and each end: on a key wider than a letter, one side left unseated makes it lean.
Cmd / Alt Gr key — questions
- Does this Cmd / Alt Gr keycap fit my Logitech MX Keys?
- Only if that keyboard is an MX Keys Mini. On the full-size MX Keys this key does not have the same geometry, so the cap will not seat. Letters, digits and special characters are the ones that swap freely between the two chassis — this key is not one of them.
- Is the hinge included with the Cmd / Alt Gr key?
- Yes: cap and hinge arrive together. The dome, the small rubber cup that makes the Cmd / Alt Gr key spring back, is not part of the order; the one on your keyboard is reused, and a spare dome can be ordered on its own.
- My Cmd / Alt Gr key feels loose or uneven after fitting — what should I check?
- Take the Cmd / Alt Gr cap off again and check that the hinge is clipped onto all its anchor points; if a metal wire sits under the key, make sure it is engaged in its clips. Then press the centre of the Cmd / Alt Gr key before its ends.
Check your keyboard's brand
You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
