Very easy to replace

2 minutes, no need to take the keyboard apart. No skills required.

  1. Lift the old key by one corner, straight up, with a fingernail or a spudger.
  2. Clip the supplied hinge onto its hooks.
  3. Set the new key on top and press the centre until it clicks.

Recommended tools for some keys

Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

About the O replacement key

Missing the O on your Logitech MX Keys, or has it stopped responding? This is the key on its own, hinge included, ready to clip in where the old one was. We take the O key from dismantled keyboards: it is a genuine, pre-owned Logitech cap, sold without the dome.

Compatibility

This O keycap is cut for QWERTZ (DE) keyboards and fits the MX Keys Mini as well as the full-size MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac: across the alphanumeric block, both chassis use the same 1U cap. The legend is that of the QWERTZ (DE) layout.

The O key: position, size and wear

The O key sits on the main typing block, among the most frequently pressed keys on the keyboard. Beyond typing, it drives the Ctrl + O shortcut, which opens a file. Nothing steadies the O key apart from its scissor hinge: one-unit keys have no metal wire. A hinge split on one side makes it rock, and a torn clip lets it go at the first knock.

How to install it

Allow under a minute to refit the O key, bare-handed or with a plastic spudger: free the old hinge if it is broken, clip the new one in the same orientation, then press straight down on the cap until you feel a soft click.

Guide: repairing or replacing an MX Keys key, step by step

O key — questions

Does this O keycap fit my Logitech MX Keys?
Yes, whichever version you have: this O keycap is a one-unit cap shared by the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac. Just check that your keyboard uses the QWERTZ (DE) layout, so the printed characters match.
Is the hinge included with the O key?
Yes, the X-shaped hinge comes with the O key — it is often the part that broke. Only the rubber dome is not supplied: it stays in place on the keyboard under the O key, and domes are sold in packs among our spare parts.
My O key still doesn't work after I replaced the cap — why?
A key that goes down normally but types nothing points to the rubber dome, sold separately; if the O key wobbles, it is the hinge, supplied with it. When several keys next to the O key fail at the same time, the cause is inside the keyboard, not under the cap.

Check your keyboard's brand

You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
