Very easy to replace

2 minutes, no need to take the keyboard apart. No skills required.

  1. Lift the old key by one corner, straight up, with a fingernail or a spudger.
  2. Clip the supplied hinge onto its hooks.
  3. Set the new key on top and press the centre until it clicks.

Recommended tools for some keys

Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

About the T replacement key

A replacement T key for the Logitech MX Keys, supplied with its hinge: a letter that pops off, leans or stops typing is a one-minute repair, not a new keyboard. No copy here: the T key comes, pre-owned, from a dismantled keyboard, and arrives without the rubber dome, which stays on yours.

Compatibility

This T keycap is cut for QWERTZ (DE) keyboards and fits the MX Keys Mini as well as the full-size MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac: across the alphanumeric block, both chassis use the same 1U cap. The legend is that of the QWERTZ (DE) layout.

The T key: position, size and wear

The T key sits on the main typing block, among the most frequently pressed keys on the keyboard. Beyond typing, it drives the Ctrl + T shortcut, which opens a new browser tab. With no metal wire under a one-unit cap, the T key rests entirely on its scissor hinge. A press at an angle, a fingernail slipped underneath or a vigorous clean is enough to tear one of its clips.

How to install it

Allow under a minute to refit the T key, bare-handed or with a plastic spudger: free the old hinge if it is broken, clip the new one in the same orientation, then press straight down on the cap until you feel a soft click.

Guide: repairing or replacing an MX Keys key, step by step

T key — questions

Does this T keycap fit my Logitech MX Keys?
Yes. On the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac, every key of the letter and number block has the same one-unit cap, the T key included; what has to match is the layout, here QWERTZ (DE).
Is the hinge included with the T key?
Yes. The T key ships with its scissor hinge, so it also fixes a key that lost its clip. The rubber dome under the T key is not included: yours stays on the keyboard, and a spare can be ordered separately if it is damaged.
I changed the cap on the T key, but it still types nothing — what now?
If the T key was unresponsive rather than physically broken, the fault usually lies in its scissor hinge, included here, or in the rubber dome underneath, sold separately. Replace the hinge first, then the dome if the T key still feels mushy.

Check your keyboard's brand

You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
