Very easy to replace

2 minutes, no need to take the keyboard apart. No skills required.

  1. Lift the old key by one corner, straight up, with a fingernail or a spudger.
  2. Clip the supplied hinge onto its hooks.
  3. Set the new key on top and press the centre until it clicks.

Recommended tools for some keys

Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

Compatible with these Logitech keyboards

On these keyboards, this genuine MX Keys key takes the place of the official one: same scissor mechanism and mounting, with a legend and finish that may differ slightly.

About the Bluetooth 2 replacement key

The Bluetooth 2 key from the top row of the Logitech MX Keys, supplied with its hinge, to replace a key that cracked, was torn off or got lost. Genuine Logitech and pre-owned, the Bluetooth 2 key was removed from another keyboard; only the rubber dome is not included.

Compatibility

This Bluetooth 2 keycap fits the full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac), not the MX Keys Mini, whose top-row caps are shorter. The legend is that of the QWERTY (US) layout. On the MX Keys S, the top-row keys carry different icons, so this key will not match them exactly.

The Bluetooth 2 key: position, size and wear

On the full-size MX Keys, it sits in the top row, above Home. It is one of the three Easy-Switch keys: a press switches the keyboard to the device paired on channel 2, and a long press of about three seconds puts that channel into pairing mode. Pressed less often than a letter, the Bluetooth 2 key wears more slowly, but its scissor hinge is just as thin: a fingernail, a cloth or an object resting on the keyboard that catches it sideways can tear a clip off.

How to install it

Fitting takes no tools. If the old hinge under the Bluetooth 2 key is split, remove its fragments; seat the one supplied, hold the new cap flat above it and press the middle — a click tells you it is held.

Guide: removing an MX Keys key without breaking the clip

Bluetooth 2 key — questions

Will the Bluetooth 2 key fit my MX Keys?
Yes on a full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac); no on the MX Keys Mini, whose top-row caps are shorter.
Is the hinge included with the Bluetooth 2 key?
Yes: cap and hinge arrive together. The dome, the small rubber cup that makes the Bluetooth 2 key spring back, is not part of the order; the one on your keyboard is reused, and a spare dome can be ordered on its own.
My Bluetooth 2 key stays dead despite a new cap — where is the fault?
A key that goes down normally but types nothing points to the rubber dome, sold separately; if the Bluetooth 2 key wobbles, it is the hinge, supplied with it. When several keys next to the Bluetooth 2 key fail at the same time, the cause is inside the keyboard, not under the cap.

Check your keyboard's brand

You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
