Recommended tools for some keys
Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

On these keyboards, this genuine MX Keys key takes the place of the official one: same scissor mechanism and mounting, with a legend and finish that may differ slightly.
Where is the Insert key and what does it do?
On a full-size Logitech MX Keys, the Insert key sits in the block to the right of Backspace, to the left of Home, above Delete. It toggles between insert mode, where typed text slots in, and overtype mode, where it replaces the following characters. Text that disappears as you type often comes from pressing Insert by accident.
About the Insert replacement key
A Insert key for the Logitech MX Keys, supplied with its hinge, to replace a navigation key that cracked, wobbles or went missing. We take the Insert key from dismantled keyboards: it is a genuine, pre-owned Logitech cap, sold without the dome.
Compatibility
This Insert keycap fits the full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac); the MX Keys Mini has no six-key navigation block. The legend is that of the QWERTY (ES) layout.
The Insert key: position, size and wear
The Insert key is part of the six-key block (Insert, Home, Page Up, Delete, End, Page Down) between the main block and the keypad; the MX Keys Mini has no such block. Nothing under it but a scissor hinge, as on a letter key: when a clip tears, the key starts to tilt before it detaches.
How to install it
No tools needed. Lift what is left of the old Insert key by one corner, straight up, clear away any pieces of hinge, clip the supplied hinge flat onto its anchor points, then set the new cap on top and press the centre until it clicks.
Insert key — questions
- Where is the Insert key and what does it do?
- On a full-size Logitech MX Keys, the Insert key sits in the block to the right of Backspace, to the left of Home, above Delete. It toggles between insert mode, where typed text slots in, and overtype mode, where it replaces the following characters. Text that disappears as you type often comes from pressing Insert by accident.
- Does this Insert keycap fit my Logitech MX Keys?
- Yes on a full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac); the MX Keys Mini has no navigation block.
- Is the hinge included with the Insert key?
- Yes: cap and hinge arrive together. The dome, the small rubber cup that makes the Insert key spring back, is not part of the order; the one on your keyboard is reused, and a spare dome can be ordered on its own.
- I changed the cap on the Insert key, but it still types nothing — what now?
- A key that goes down normally but types nothing points to the rubber dome, sold separately; if the Insert key wobbles, it is the hinge, supplied with it. When several keys next to the Insert key fail at the same time, the cause is inside the keyboard, not under the cap.
Check your keyboard's brand
You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
