Recommended tools for some keys
Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

About the Volume + replacement key
Has your MX Keys lost its Volume + key? This is the part on its own, hinge included, so the top row is complete again without a new keyboard. We take the Volume + key from dismantled keyboards: it is a genuine, pre-owned Logitech cap, sold without the dome.
Compatibility
This Volume + keycap fits the full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac), not the MX Keys Mini, whose top-row caps are shorter. The legend is that of the QWERTY (PT) layout. On the MX Keys S, the top-row keys carry different icons, so this key will not match them exactly.
The Volume + key: position, size and wear
On the full-size MX Keys, it sits in the top row, above Backspace. It turns the sound volume up. The top row has no metal wires either: the cap is held by its X-shaped hinge alone, so a sideways knock while cleaning, or from something resting on the keys, is enough to unhook the Volume + key.
How to install it
Allow under a minute to refit the Volume + key, bare-handed or with a plastic spudger: free the old hinge if it is broken, clip the new one in the same orientation, then press straight down on the cap until you feel a soft click.
Volume + key — questions
- Does this Volume + keycap fit my Logitech MX Keys?
- Yes on a full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac); no on the MX Keys Mini, whose top-row caps are shorter.
- Is the hinge included with the Volume + key?
- Yes. The Volume + key ships with its scissor hinge, so it also fixes a key that lost its clip. The rubber dome under the Volume + key is not included: yours stays on the keyboard, and a spare can be ordered separately if it is damaged.
- My Volume + key stays dead despite a new cap — where is the fault?
- A key that goes down normally but types nothing points to the rubber dome, sold separately; if the Volume + key wobbles, it is the hinge, supplied with it. When several keys next to the Volume + key fail at the same time, the cause is inside the keyboard, not under the cap.
Check your keyboard's brand
You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
