Recommended tools for some keys
Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

On these keyboards, this genuine MX Keys key takes the place of the official one: same scissor mechanism and mounting, with a legend and finish that may differ slightly.
Where is the 9 key on the numeric keypad and what does it do?
On a full-size Logitech MX Keys, the 9 key on the numeric keypad sits between the 8 and +, below *. With Num Lock on, it types 9; with Num Lock off, it acts as Page Up, the function printed under the digit. If the keypad moves the cursor instead of typing, press Num Lock.
About the 9 (Num) replacement key
An incomplete keypad slows down every figure you type: this 9 (Num) key for the MX Keys, shipped with its hinge, replaces the missing one. A genuine salvaged part: the 9 (Num) key is taken, pre-owned, from a dismantled keyboard and shipped without a dome.
Compatibility
This 9 (Num) keycap fits the full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac), the only ones with a numeric keypad: the MX Keys Mini has none, so there is no place for it there. The legend is that of the QWERTZ (CH) layout.
The 9 (Num) key: position, size and wear
Only the full-size MX Keys has a numeric keypad; its keys take bursts of one-handed presses whenever figures are keyed in. Like every one-unit key, the 9 (Num) key has no metal wire underneath: it is held only by its scissor hinge, clipped onto four anchor points. Once one clip gives way, the key tilts, pops off or falls out, while the cap itself is often intact.
How to install it
The 9 (Num) key needs no tools: unhook the old cap at a corner, take out any remains of the hinge, clip the supplied hinge in flat, then press the new cap down until you hear the click. To test it, turn Num Lock on first; otherwise the keypad moves the cursor instead of typing.
9 (Num) key — questions
- Where is the 9 key on the numeric keypad and what does it do?
- On a full-size Logitech MX Keys, the 9 key on the numeric keypad sits between the 8 and +, below *. With Num Lock on, it types 9; with Num Lock off, it acts as Page Up, the function printed under the digit. If the keypad moves the cursor instead of typing, press Num Lock.
- Will the 9 (Num) key fit my MX Keys?
- Yes, if it is a full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac) in the QWERTZ (CH) layout. The MX Keys Mini has no numeric keypad.
- Is the hinge included with the 9 (Num) key?
- Yes. The hinge travels in the parcel with the 9 (Num) key, ready to fit; what you will not find is the rubber dome, which never leaves your keyboard and is sold separately if needed.
- My 9 (Num) key moves the cursor instead of typing — do I need a new one?
- Not necessarily: if the whole keypad does the same, Num Lock is off. Press it once; the MX Keys has no indicator light, but Logi Options+ can show its status on screen. If only this key fails, its hinge or dome is at fault.
Check your keyboard's brand
You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
