Very easy to replace

2 minutes, no need to take the keyboard apart. No skills required.

  1. Lift the old key by one corner, straight up, with a fingernail or a spudger.
  2. Clip the supplied hinge onto its hooks.
  3. Set the new key on top and press the centre until it clicks.

Recommended tools for some keys

Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

Compatible with these Logitech keyboards

On these keyboards, this genuine MX Keys key takes the place of the official one: same scissor mechanism and mounting, with a legend and finish that may differ slightly.

Where is the Backspace key and what does it do?

On a full-size Logitech MX Keys, the Backspace key sits at the end of the number row, above Enter. It deletes the character to the left of the cursor, or the selection; Ctrl + Backspace deletes the whole word. To delete to the right of the cursor, use the Delete key.

About the Backspace replacement key

A replacement Backspace key for the Logitech MX Keys, supplied with its hinge: a key used all day long, replaced on its own rather than with a new keyboard. Genuine Logitech and pre-owned, the Backspace key was removed from another keyboard; only the rubber dome is not included.

Compatibility

This Backspace keycap fits the full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac) in the QWERTZ (CH) layout. The MX Keys Mini has its own proportions for this key, so this cap is not meant for it.

The Backspace key: position, size and wear

The Backspace key is 2 units wide, a unit being the width of a letter key. It is struck by the right little finger, often several times in a row, with the hand stretched. On a cap this wide, an off-centre press loads only one side of the scissor hinge: that side is the one that splits, and the Backspace key then leans towards it or catches. The longer the key, the more a press at one end acts as a lever.

How to install it

No tools needed for the Backspace key: free the old cap from one end, clear the broken hinge and clip the new one in the same orientation. Should a metal wire run under the key, seat it in its clips before anything else, then press the middle and finish with both ends.

Backspace key — questions

Where is the Backspace key and what does it do?
On a full-size Logitech MX Keys, the Backspace key sits at the end of the number row, above Enter. It deletes the character to the left of the cursor, or the selection; Ctrl + Backspace deletes the whole word. To delete to the right of the cursor, use the Delete key.
Is the Backspace key compatible with my MX Keys keyboard?
Yes, if it is a full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac) in the QWERTZ (CH) layout: the Backspace key has exactly this shape there. Not on the MX Keys Mini, where this key has other proportions.
Is the hinge included with the Backspace key?
Yes, the X-shaped hinge comes with the Backspace key — it is often the part that broke. Only the rubber dome is not supplied: it stays in place on the keyboard under the Backspace key, and domes are sold in packs among our spare parts.
My Backspace key feels loose or uneven after fitting — what should I check?
Take the Backspace cap off again and check that the hinge is clipped onto all its anchor points; if a metal wire sits under the key, make sure it is engaged in its clips. Then press the centre of the Backspace key before its ends.

Check your keyboard's brand

You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
