Recommended tools for some keys
Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

On these keyboards, this genuine MX Keys key takes the place of the official one: same scissor mechanism and mounting, with a legend and finish that may differ slightly.
Where is the F6 key and what does it do?
On a full-size Logitech MX Keys, the F6 key sits on the top row, between F5 and F7. By default it triggers the function drawn on the key; held with Fn, it sends F6, which moves the cursor to the browser address bar. Fn + Esc swaps that behaviour for the whole row.
About the F6 replacement key
The F6 key from the top row of the Logitech MX Keys, supplied with its hinge, to replace a key that cracked, was torn off or got lost. A genuine salvaged part: the F6 key is taken, pre-owned, from a dismantled keyboard and shipped without a dome.
Compatibility
This F6 keycap fits the full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac), not the MX Keys Mini, whose top-row caps are shorter. The legend is that of the QWERTZ (CH) layout. On the MX Keys S, the top-row keys carry different icons, so this key will not match them exactly.
The F6 key: position, size and wear
Like every F key on the MX Keys, it is printed twice: an icon for its built-in function and “F6” in the corner, reached with Fn. Pressed less often than a letter, the F6 key wears more slowly, but its scissor hinge is just as thin: a fingernail, a cloth or an object resting on the keyboard that catches it sideways can tear a clip off.
How to install it
No tools needed. Lift what is left of the old F6 key by one corner, straight up, clear away any pieces of hinge, clip the supplied hinge flat onto its anchor points, then set the new cap on top and press the centre until it clicks. To test it, try it alone and then with Fn held: one press triggers the drawn function, the other F6.
F6 key — questions
- Where is the F6 key and what does it do?
- On a full-size Logitech MX Keys, the F6 key sits on the top row, between F5 and F7. By default it triggers the function drawn on the key; held with Fn, it sends F6, which moves the cursor to the browser address bar. Fn + Esc swaps that behaviour for the whole row.
- Will the F6 key fit my MX Keys?
- Yes on a full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac); no on the MX Keys Mini, whose top-row caps are shorter.
- Is the hinge included with the F6 key?
- Yes: cap and hinge arrive together. The dome, the small rubber cup that makes the F6 key spring back, is not part of the order; the one on your keyboard is reused, and a spare dome can be ordered on its own.
- My F6 key triggers its icon instead of F6 (or the other way round) — is it broken?
- No, that is the Fn lock. Hold Fn to get the other function, or press Fn + Esc to swap the behaviour of the whole row. A broken key leans, catches or no longer goes down.
Check your keyboard's brand
You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
