Recommended tools for some keys
Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

About the é / ö replacement key
A é / ö key for the Logitech MX Keys, with its hinge: the exact punctuation of your layout, to replace a key that broke or went missing. The é / ö key is a genuine Logitech part, pre-owned, taken from a dismantled keyboard; the rubber dome is not supplied, as the one on your keyboard stays in place.
Compatibility
This é / ö keycap is a one-unit cap from the alphanumeric block: it clips onto the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac, which all use the same key size across that block. Only the legend changes from one layout to another; this one is QWERTZ (CH).
The é / ö key: position, size and wear
On the full-size MX Keys, the é / ö key sits on the middle row, 3rd key to the left of Enter. It is one of the eight home-row keys, where the right little finger rests in touch typing. It carries “é / ö”, characters specific to the QWERTZ (CH) layout: the legend is what matters here, since a cap from another layout would clip into the same spot with different symbols. Like every one-unit key, the é / ö key has no metal wire underneath: it is held only by its scissor hinge, clipped onto four anchor points. Once one clip gives way, the key tilts, pops off or falls out, while the cap itself is often intact.
How to install it
Allow under a minute to refit the é / ö key, bare-handed or with a plastic spudger: free the old hinge if it is broken, clip the new one in the same orientation, then press straight down on the cap until you feel a soft click.
é / ö key — questions
- Will the é / ö key also fit an MX Keys Mini?
- Yes, whichever version you have: this é / ö keycap is a one-unit cap shared by the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac. Just check that your keyboard uses the QWERTZ (CH) layout, so the printed characters match.
- Is the hinge included with the é / ö key?
- Yes: cap and hinge arrive together. The dome, the small rubber cup that makes the é / ö key spring back, is not part of the order; the one on your keyboard is reused, and a spare dome can be ordered on its own.
- My é / ö key stays dead despite a new cap — where is the fault?
- If the é / ö key was unresponsive rather than physically broken, the fault usually lies in its scissor hinge, included here, or in the rubber dome underneath, sold separately. Replace the hinge first, then the dome if the é / ö key still feels mushy.
Check your keyboard's brand
You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
