Recommended tools for some keys

Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

Compatible with these Logitech keyboards

On these keyboards, this genuine MX Keys key takes the place of the official one: same scissor mechanism and mounting, with a legend and finish that may differ slightly.

About the V replacement key

Missing the V on your Logitech MX Keys, or has it stopped responding? This is the key on its own, hinge included, ready to clip in where the old one was. No copy here: the V key comes, pre-owned, from a dismantled keyboard, and arrives without the rubber dome, which stays on yours.

Compatibility

Across the letter and number block, the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac share the same one-unit cap, so this V keycap fits a full-size model and a Mini alike. Choose it by its legend — here, the QWERTZ (CH) layout.

The V key: position, size and wear

On the full-size MX Keys, the V key sits on the bottom row of the letter block, 5th key to the right of the left Shift key. In touch typing, it belongs to the left index finger. Beyond typing, it drives the Ctrl + V shortcut, which pastes what was copied. A key this size has no stabiliser, so all of its support comes from the X-shaped hinge and its four anchor points. When the V key starts to lean or comes away, that hinge is nearly always what failed, well before the cap.

How to install it

No tools needed. Lift what is left of the old V key by one corner, straight up, clear away any pieces of hinge, clip the supplied hinge flat onto its anchor points, then set the new cap on top and press the centre until it clicks.

V key — questions

Does this V keycap fit my Logitech MX Keys?
Yes, whichever version you have: this V keycap is a one-unit cap shared by the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac. Just check that your keyboard uses the QWERTZ (CH) layout, so the printed characters match.
Is the hinge included with the V key?
Yes. The V key ships with its scissor hinge, so it also fixes a key that lost its clip. The rubber dome under the V key is not included: yours stays on the keyboard, and a spare can be ordered separately if it is damaged.
My V key still doesn't work after I replaced the cap — why?
First try the V key on another computer or in another program, to rule out a setting. If it stays silent, look under the cap: with a split hinge it moves crooked; with a crushed or loose dome it goes down without typing.

Check your keyboard's brand

You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
