Recommended tools for some keys
Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

About the Z replacement key
Missing the Z on your Logitech MX Keys, or has it stopped responding? This is the key on its own, hinge included, ready to clip in where the old one was. A genuine salvaged part: the Z key is taken, pre-owned, from a dismantled keyboard and shipped without a dome.
Compatibility
This Z keycap is a one-unit cap from the alphanumeric block: it clips onto the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac, which all use the same key size across that block. Only the legend changes from one layout to another; this one is QWERTZ (CH).
The Z key: position, size and wear
On the full-size MX Keys, the Z key sits on the top letter row, just below the digits, 6th key to the right of Tab. In touch typing, it belongs to the right index finger. It also does double duty in Ctrl + Z, which undoes the last action. A key this size has no stabiliser, so all of its support comes from the X-shaped hinge and its four anchor points. When the Z key starts to lean or comes away, that hinge is nearly always what failed, well before the cap.
How to install it
Allow under a minute to refit the Z key, bare-handed or with a plastic spudger: free the old hinge if it is broken, clip the new one in the same orientation, then press straight down on the cap until you feel a soft click.
Z key — questions
- Will the Z key also fit an MX Keys Mini?
- It does, full-size or Mini: the Z key has the same one-unit cap on all four models. Only the legend depends on the layout — QWERTZ (CH) for this one.
- Is the hinge included with the Z key?
- Yes. The hinge travels in the parcel with the Z key, ready to fit; what you will not find is the rubber dome, which never leaves your keyboard and is sold separately if needed.
- My Z key still doesn't work after I replaced the cap — why?
- A key that goes down normally but types nothing points to the rubber dome, sold separately; if the Z key wobbles, it is the hinge, supplied with it. When several keys next to the Z key fail at the same time, the cause is inside the keyboard, not under the cap.
Check your keyboard's brand
You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
