The British layout is recognisable by three details, and they are enough to tell it apart from the American one: the Enter key is tall, shaped like a reversed L; the £ sign is engraved on the 2 key; and an extra key carrying # and ~ sits just left of Enter. On top of that, the at sign moves from the 2 key to the apostrophe, and a \ key sits between left Shift and Z.
