Very easy to replace

2 minutes, no need to take the keyboard apart. No skills required.

  1. Lift the old key by one corner, straight up, with a fingernail or a spudger.
  2. Clip the supplied hinge onto its hooks.
  3. Set the new key on top and press the centre until it clicks.

Recommended tools for some keys

Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

Compatible with these Logitech keyboards

On these keyboards, this genuine MX Keys key takes the place of the official one: same scissor mechanism and mounting, with a legend and finish that may differ slightly.

About the D replacement key

Missing the D on your Logitech MX Keys, or has it stopped responding? This is the key on its own, hinge included, ready to clip in where the old one was. Genuine Logitech and pre-owned, the D key was removed from another keyboard; only the rubber dome is not included.

Compatibility

Across the letter and number block, the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac share the same one-unit cap, so this D keycap fits a full-size model and a Mini alike. Choose it by its legend — here, the AZERTY (FR) layout.

The D key: position, size and wear

On the full-size MX Keys, the D key sits on the middle row, 3rd key to the right of Caps Lock. It is one of the eight home-row keys, where the left middle finger rests in touch typing. Beyond typing, it drives the Ctrl + D shortcut, which bookmarks the page in a browser. A key this size has no stabiliser, so all of its support comes from the X-shaped hinge and its four anchor points. When the D key starts to lean or comes away, that hinge is nearly always what failed, well before the cap.

How to install it

Fitting takes no tools. If the old hinge under the D key is split, remove its fragments; seat the one supplied, hold the new cap flat above it and press the middle — a click tells you it is held.

D key — questions

Does this D keycap fit my Logitech MX Keys?
It does, full-size or Mini: the D key has the same one-unit cap on all four models. Only the legend depends on the layout — AZERTY (FR) for this one.
Is the hinge included with the D key?
Yes, the X-shaped hinge comes with the D key — it is often the part that broke. Only the rubber dome is not supplied: it stays in place on the keyboard under the D key, and domes are sold in packs among our spare parts.
My D key still doesn't work after I replaced the cap — why?
If the D key was unresponsive rather than physically broken, the fault usually lies in its scissor hinge, included here, or in the rubber dome underneath, sold separately. Replace the hinge first, then the dome if the D key still feels mushy.

Check your keyboard's brand

You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
