Very easy to replace

2 minutes, no need to take the keyboard apart. No skills required.

  1. Lift the old key by one corner, straight up, with a fingernail or a spudger.
  2. Clip the supplied hinge onto its hooks.
  3. Set the new key on top and press the centre until it clicks.

Recommended tools for some keys

Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

Compatible with these Logitech keyboards

On these keyboards, this genuine MX Keys key takes the place of the official one: same scissor mechanism and mounting, with a legend and finish that may differ slightly.

About the I replacement key

A replacement I key for the Logitech MX Keys, supplied with its hinge: a letter that pops off, leans or stops typing is a one-minute repair, not a new keyboard. The I key is a genuine Logitech part, pre-owned, taken from a dismantled keyboard; the rubber dome is not supplied, as the one on your keyboard stays in place.

Compatibility

This I keycap is a one-unit cap from the alphanumeric block: it clips onto the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac, which all use the same key size across that block. Only the legend changes from one layout to another; this one is AZERTY (FR).

The I key: position, size and wear

On the full-size MX Keys, the I key sits on the top letter row, just below the digits, 5th key to the left of Enter. In touch typing, it belongs to the right middle finger. Beyond typing, it drives the Windows + I shortcut, which opens Windows Settings. Like every one-unit key, the I key has no metal wire underneath: it is held only by its scissor hinge, clipped onto four anchor points. Once one clip gives way, the key tilts, pops off or falls out, while the cap itself is often intact.

How to install it

The I key needs no tools: unhook the old cap at a corner, take out any remains of the hinge, clip the supplied hinge in flat, then press the new cap down until you hear the click.

I key — questions

Does this I keycap fit my Logitech MX Keys?
Yes, whichever version you have: this I keycap is a one-unit cap shared by the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac. Just check that your keyboard uses the AZERTY (FR) layout, so the printed characters match.
Is the hinge included with the I key?
Yes: cap and hinge arrive together. The dome, the small rubber cup that makes the I key spring back, is not part of the order; the one on your keyboard is reused, and a spare dome can be ordered on its own.
My I key still doesn't work after I replaced the cap — why?
A key that goes down normally but types nothing points to the rubber dome, sold separately; if the I key wobbles, it is the hinge, supplied with it. When several keys next to the I key fail at the same time, the cause is inside the keyboard, not under the cap.

Check your keyboard's brand

You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
