Very easy to replace

2 minutes, no need to take the keyboard apart. No skills required.

  1. Lift the old key by one corner, straight up, with a fingernail or a spudger.
  2. Clip the supplied hinge onto its hooks.
  3. Set the new key on top and press the centre until it clicks.

Recommended tools for some keys

Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

Compatible with these Logitech keyboards

On these keyboards, this genuine MX Keys key takes the place of the official one: same scissor mechanism and mounting, with a legend and finish that may differ slightly.

About the K replacement key

A replacement K key for the Logitech MX Keys, supplied with its hinge: a letter that pops off, leans or stops typing is a one-minute repair, not a new keyboard. No copy here: the K key comes, pre-owned, from a dismantled keyboard, and arrives without the rubber dome, which stays on yours.

Compatibility

This K keycap is a one-unit cap from the alphanumeric block: it clips onto the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac, which all use the same key size across that block. Only the legend changes from one layout to another; this one is AZERTY (FR).

The K key: position, size and wear

On the full-size MX Keys, the K key sits on the middle row, 5th key to the left of Enter. It is one of the eight home-row keys, where the right middle finger rests in touch typing. With no metal wire under a one-unit cap, the K key rests entirely on its scissor hinge. A press at an angle, a fingernail slipped underneath or a vigorous clean is enough to tear one of its clips.

How to install it

Fitting takes no tools. If the old hinge under the K key is split, remove its fragments; seat the one supplied, hold the new cap flat above it and press the middle — a click tells you it is held.

K key — questions

Will the K key also fit an MX Keys Mini?
Yes. On the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac, every key of the letter and number block has the same one-unit cap, the K key included; what has to match is the layout, here AZERTY (FR).
Is the hinge included with the K key?
Yes, the X-shaped hinge comes with the K key — it is often the part that broke. Only the rubber dome is not supplied: it stays in place on the keyboard under the K key, and domes are sold in packs among our spare parts.
I changed the cap on the K key, but it still types nothing — what now?
First try the K key on another computer or in another program, to rule out a setting. If it stays silent, look under the cap: with a split hinge it moves crooked; with a crushed or loose dome it goes down without typing.

Check your keyboard's brand

You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
