Recommended tools for some keys
Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

About the L replacement key
Missing the L on your Logitech MX Keys, or has it stopped responding? This is the key on its own, hinge included, ready to clip in where the old one was. The L key is a genuine Logitech part, pre-owned, taken from a dismantled keyboard; the rubber dome is not supplied, as the one on your keyboard stays in place.
Compatibility
Across the letter and number block, the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac share the same one-unit cap, so this L keycap fits a full-size model and a Mini alike. Choose it by its legend — here, the AZERTY (FR) layout.
The L key: position, size and wear
On the full-size MX Keys, the L key sits on the middle row, 4th key to the left of Enter. It is one of the eight home-row keys, where the right ring finger rests in touch typing. Beyond typing, it drives the Ctrl + L shortcut, which jumps to the browser address bar. Like every one-unit key, the L key has no metal wire underneath: it is held only by its scissor hinge, clipped onto four anchor points. Once one clip gives way, the key tilts, pops off or falls out, while the cap itself is often intact.
How to install it
Allow under a minute to refit the L key, bare-handed or with a plastic spudger: free the old hinge if it is broken, clip the new one in the same orientation, then press straight down on the cap until you feel a soft click.
L key — questions
- Will this L keycap fit my MX Keys S?
- Yes. On the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac, every key of the letter and number block has the same one-unit cap, the L key included; what has to match is the layout, here AZERTY (FR).
- Is the hinge included with the L key?
- Yes. The L key ships with its scissor hinge, so it also fixes a key that lost its clip. The rubber dome under the L key is not included: yours stays on the keyboard, and a spare can be ordered separately if it is damaged.
- My L key stays dead despite a new cap — where is the fault?
- First try the L key on another computer or in another program, to rule out a setting. If it stays silent, look under the cap: with a split hinge it moves crooked; with a crushed or loose dome it goes down without typing.
Check your keyboard's brand
You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
