Recommended tools for some keys
Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

About the M replacement key
A replacement M key for the Logitech MX Keys, supplied with its hinge: a letter that pops off, leans or stops typing is a one-minute repair, not a new keyboard. Genuine Logitech and pre-owned, the M key was removed from another keyboard; only the rubber dome is not included.
Compatibility
This M keycap is a one-unit cap from the alphanumeric block: it clips onto the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac, which all use the same key size across that block. Only the legend changes from one layout to another; this one is AZERTY (FR).
The M key: position, size and wear
On the full-size MX Keys, the M key sits on the middle row, 3rd key to the left of Enter. It is one of the eight home-row keys, where the right little finger rests in touch typing. It also does double duty in Windows + M, which minimises every window. With no metal wire under a one-unit cap, the M key rests entirely on its scissor hinge. A press at an angle, a fingernail slipped underneath or a vigorous clean is enough to tear one of its clips.
How to install it
No tools needed. Lift what is left of the old M key by one corner, straight up, clear away any pieces of hinge, clip the supplied hinge flat onto its anchor points, then set the new cap on top and press the centre until it clicks.
M key — questions
- Will the M key also fit an MX Keys Mini?
- Yes, whichever version you have: this M keycap is a one-unit cap shared by the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac. Just check that your keyboard uses the AZERTY (FR) layout, so the printed characters match.
- Is the hinge included with the M key?
- Yes. The hinge travels in the parcel with the M key, ready to fit; what you will not find is the rubber dome, which never leaves your keyboard and is sold separately if needed.
- I changed the cap on the M key, but it still types nothing — what now?
- If the M key was unresponsive rather than physically broken, the fault usually lies in its scissor hinge, included here, or in the rubber dome underneath, sold separately. Replace the hinge first, then the dome if the M key still feels mushy.
Check your keyboard's brand
You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
