Recommended tools for some keys
Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

About the V replacement key
A replacement V key for the Logitech MX Keys, supplied with its hinge: a letter that pops off, leans or stops typing is a one-minute repair, not a new keyboard. The V key is a genuine Logitech part, pre-owned, taken from a dismantled keyboard; the rubber dome is not supplied, as the one on your keyboard stays in place.
Compatibility
This V keycap is a one-unit cap from the alphanumeric block: it clips onto the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac, which all use the same key size across that block. Only the legend changes from one layout to another; this one is AZERTY (FR).
The V key: position, size and wear
On the full-size MX Keys, the V key sits on the bottom row of the letter block, 5th key to the right of the left Shift key. In touch typing, it belongs to the left index finger. It also does double duty in Ctrl + V, which pastes what was copied. Like every one-unit key, the V key has no metal wire underneath: it is held only by its scissor hinge, clipped onto four anchor points. Once one clip gives way, the key tilts, pops off or falls out, while the cap itself is often intact.
How to install it
Fitting takes no tools. If the old hinge under the V key is split, remove its fragments; seat the one supplied, hold the new cap flat above it and press the middle — a click tells you it is held.
V key — questions
- Will the V key also fit an MX Keys Mini?
- Yes. On the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac, every key of the letter and number block has the same one-unit cap, the V key included; what has to match is the layout, here AZERTY (FR).
- Is the hinge included with the V key?
- Yes. The hinge travels in the parcel with the V key, ready to fit; what you will not find is the rubber dome, which never leaves your keyboard and is sold separately if needed.
- My V key stays dead despite a new cap — where is the fault?
- First try the V key on another computer or in another program, to rule out a setting. If it stays silent, look under the cap: with a split hinge it moves crooked; with a crushed or loose dome it goes down without typing.
Check your keyboard's brand
You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
