Very easy to replace

2 minutes, no need to take the keyboard apart. No skills required.

  1. Lift the old key by one corner, straight up, with a fingernail or a spudger.
  2. Clip the supplied hinge onto its hooks.
  3. Set the new key on top and press the centre until it clicks.

Recommended tools for some keys

Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

Compatible with these Logitech keyboards

On these keyboards, this genuine MX Keys key takes the place of the official one: same scissor mechanism and mounting, with a legend and finish that may differ slightly.

Where is the Caps Lock key and what does it do?

On a full-size Logitech MX Keys, the Caps Lock key sits on the left edge of the keyboard, below Tab, above the left Shift key. One press locks capital letters, a second press releases them. Text that suddenly comes out all in capitals nearly always comes from pressing this key by accident.

About the Caps Lock replacement key

A replacement Caps Lock key for the Logitech MX Keys, supplied with its hinge: a key used all day long, replaced on its own rather than with a new keyboard. No copy here: the Caps Lock key comes, pre-owned, from a dismantled keyboard, and arrives without the rubber dome, which stays on yours.

Compatibility

This Caps Lock keycap fits the full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac) in the AZERTY (FR) layout. The MX Keys Mini has its own proportions for this key, so this cap is not meant for it.

The Caps Lock key: position, size and wear

The Caps Lock key is 1.75 units wide, a unit being the width of a letter key. It is struck by the left little finger, often on its right edge, nearest the letters. On a cap this wide, an off-centre press loads only one side of the scissor hinge: that side is the one that splits, and the Caps Lock key then leans towards it or catches.

How to install it

Lift the old Caps Lock cap by a corner, remove the damaged hinge and clip in the one supplied. Lay the Caps Lock key flat, then press the centre and each end: on a key wider than a letter, one side left unseated makes it lean.

Caps Lock key — questions

Where is the Caps Lock key and what does it do?
On a full-size Logitech MX Keys, the Caps Lock key sits on the left edge of the keyboard, below Tab, above the left Shift key. One press locks capital letters, a second press releases them. Text that suddenly comes out all in capitals nearly always comes from pressing this key by accident.
Will the Caps Lock key fit my MX Keys?
Yes, if it is a full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac) in the AZERTY (FR) layout: the Caps Lock key has exactly this shape there. Not on the MX Keys Mini, where this key has other proportions.
Is the hinge included with the Caps Lock key?
Yes: cap and hinge arrive together. The dome, the small rubber cup that makes the Caps Lock key spring back, is not part of the order; the one on your keyboard is reused, and a spare dome can be ordered on its own.
My Caps Lock key feels loose or uneven after fitting — what should I check?
Take the Caps Lock cap off again and check that the hinge is clipped onto all its anchor points; if a metal wire sits under the key, make sure it is engaged in its clips. Then press the centre of the Caps Lock key before its ends.

Check your keyboard's brand

You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
