Recommended tools for some keys

Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

Compatible with these Logitech keyboards

On these keyboards, this genuine MX Keys key takes the place of the official one: same scissor mechanism and mounting, with a legend and finish that may differ slightly.

About the W replacement key

A replacement W key for the Logitech MX Keys, supplied with its hinge: a letter that pops off, leans or stops typing is a one-minute repair, not a new keyboard. No copy here: the W key comes, pre-owned, from a dismantled keyboard, and arrives without the rubber dome, which stays on yours.

Compatibility

Across the letter and number block, the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac share the same one-unit cap, so this W keycap fits a full-size model and a Mini alike. Choose it by its legend — here, the AZERTY (FR) layout.

The W key: position, size and wear

On the full-size MX Keys, the W key sits on the bottom row of the letter block, 2nd key to the right of the left Shift key. In touch typing, it belongs to the left little finger. Beyond typing, it drives the Ctrl + W shortcut, which closes the active browser tab. Like every one-unit key, the W key has no metal wire underneath: it is held only by its scissor hinge, clipped onto four anchor points. Once one clip gives way, the key tilts, pops off or falls out, while the cap itself is often intact.

How to install it

No tools needed. Lift what is left of the old W key by one corner, straight up, clear away any pieces of hinge, clip the supplied hinge flat onto its anchor points, then set the new cap on top and press the centre until it clicks.

Guide: refitting an MX Keys key that pops off or tilts

W key — questions

Will this W keycap fit my MX Keys S?
It does, full-size or Mini: the W key has the same one-unit cap on all four models. Only the legend depends on the layout — AZERTY (FR) for this one.
Is the hinge included with the W key?
Yes. The hinge travels in the parcel with the W key, ready to fit; what you will not find is the rubber dome, which never leaves your keyboard and is sold separately if needed.
My W key stays dead despite a new cap — where is the fault?
A key that goes down normally but types nothing points to the rubber dome, sold separately; if the W key wobbles, it is the hinge, supplied with it. When several keys next to the W key fail at the same time, the cause is inside the keyboard, not under the cap.

Check your keyboard's brand

You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
