Recommended tools for some keys
Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

Compatible with these Logitech keyboards
The key shipped is a compatible MX Keys key: same scissor mechanism and mounting as the original, with legend and finish that may differ slightly depending on the keyboard.
About the Shift (L) replacement key
A replacement Shift (L) key for the Logitech MX Keys, supplied with its hinge: a key used all day long, replaced on its own rather than with a new keyboard. We take the Shift (L) key from dismantled keyboards: it is a genuine, pre-owned Logitech cap, sold without the dome.
Compatibility
This Shift (L) keycap fits the full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac) in the AZERTY (FR) layout. The MX Keys Mini has its own proportions for this key, so this cap is not meant for it.
The Shift (L) key: position, size and wear
The Shift (L) key is a control key that is held or struck all day long, alongside the letters. It is struck with a sweeping movement, seldom dead centre. On a cap this wide, an off-centre press loads only one side of the scissor hinge: that side is the one that splits, and the Shift (L) key then leans towards it or catches. The longer the key, the more a press at one end acts as a lever.
How to install it
No tools needed for the Shift (L) key: free the old cap from one end, clear the broken hinge and clip the new one in the same orientation. Should a metal wire run under the key, seat it in its clips before anything else, then press the middle and finish with both ends.
Shift (L) key — questions
- Will the Shift (L) key fit my MX Keys?
- Yes, if it is a full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac) in the AZERTY (FR) layout: the Shift (L) key has exactly this shape there. Not on the MX Keys Mini, where this key has other proportions.
- Is the hinge included with the Shift (L) key?
- Yes: cap and hinge arrive together. The dome, the small rubber cup that makes the Shift (L) key spring back, is not part of the order; the one on your keyboard is reused, and a spare dome can be ordered on its own.
- My Shift (L) key feels loose or uneven after fitting — what should I check?
- Take the Shift (L) cap off again and check that the hinge is clipped onto all its anchor points; if a metal wire sits under the key, make sure it is engaged in its clips. Then press the centre of the Shift (L) key before its ends.
Check your keyboard's brand
You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
