Recommended tools for some keys
Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

About the Fn replacement key
A replacement Fn key for the Logitech MX Keys, supplied with its hinge: a key used all day long, replaced on its own rather than with a new keyboard. Genuine Logitech and pre-owned, the Fn key was removed from another keyboard; only the rubber dome is not included.
Compatibility
This Fn keycap fits the full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac) in the AZERTY (FR) layout. The MX Keys Mini has its own proportions for this key, so this cap is not meant for it.
The Fn key: position, size and wear
The Fn key is a control key that is held or struck all day long, alongside the letters. A key this size has no stabiliser, so all of its support comes from the X-shaped hinge and its four anchor points. When the Fn key starts to lean or comes away, that hinge is nearly always what failed, well before the cap.
How to install it
Fitting takes no tools. If the old hinge under the Fn key is split, remove its fragments; seat the one supplied, hold the new cap flat above it and press the middle — a click tells you it is held.
Fn key — questions
- Is the Fn key compatible with my MX Keys keyboard?
- Yes, if it is a full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac) in the AZERTY (FR) layout: the Fn key has exactly this shape there. Not on the MX Keys Mini, where this key has other proportions.
- Is the hinge included with the Fn key?
- Yes, the X-shaped hinge comes with the Fn key — it is often the part that broke. Only the rubber dome is not supplied: it stays in place on the keyboard under the Fn key, and domes are sold in packs among our spare parts.
- My Fn key stays dead despite a new cap — where is the fault?
- If the Fn key was unresponsive rather than physically broken, the fault usually lies in its scissor hinge, included here, or in the rubber dome underneath, sold separately. Replace the hinge first, then the dome if the Fn key still feels mushy.
Check your keyboard's brand
You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
