Recommended tools for some keys
Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

About the × (Num) replacement key
An incomplete keypad slows down every figure you type: this × (Num) key for the MX Keys, shipped with its hinge, replaces the missing one. A genuine salvaged part: the × (Num) key is taken, pre-owned, from a dismantled keyboard and shipped without a dome.
Compatibility
This × (Num) keycap fits the full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac), the only ones with a numeric keypad: the MX Keys Mini has none, so there is no place for it there. The legend is that of the AZERTY (FR) layout.
The × (Num) key: position, size and wear
Only the full-size MX Keys has a numeric keypad; its keys take bursts of one-handed presses whenever figures are keyed in. Nothing steadies the × (Num) key apart from its scissor hinge: one-unit keys have no metal wire. A hinge split on one side makes it rock, and a torn clip lets it go at the first knock.
How to install it
Allow under a minute to refit the × (Num) key, bare-handed or with a plastic spudger: free the old hinge if it is broken, clip the new one in the same orientation, then press straight down on the cap until you feel a soft click.
× (Num) key — questions
- Is the × (Num) key compatible with my MX Keys keyboard?
- Yes, if it is a full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac) in the AZERTY (FR) layout. The MX Keys Mini has no numeric keypad.
- Is the hinge included with the × (Num) key?
- Yes: cap and hinge arrive together. The dome, the small rubber cup that makes the × (Num) key spring back, is not part of the order; the one on your keyboard is reused, and a spare dome can be ordered on its own.
- My × (Num) key stays dead despite a new cap — where is the fault?
- First try the × (Num) key on another computer or in another program, to rule out a setting. If it stays silent, look under the cap: with a split hinge it moves crooked; with a crushed or loose dome it goes down without typing.
Check your keyboard's brand
You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
