Very easy to replace

2 minutes, no need to take the keyboard apart. No skills required.

  1. Lift the old key by one corner, straight up, with a fingernail or a spudger.
  2. Clip the supplied hinge onto its hooks.
  3. Set the new key on top and press the centre until it clicks.

Recommended tools for some keys

Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

About the N replacement key

A replacement N key for the Logitech MX Keys, supplied with its hinge: a letter that pops off, leans or stops typing is a one-minute repair, not a new keyboard. A genuine salvaged part: the N key is taken, pre-owned, from a dismantled keyboard and shipped without a dome.

Compatibility

This N keycap is a one-unit cap from the alphanumeric block: it clips onto the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac, which all use the same key size across that block. Only the legend changes from one layout to another; this one is AZERTY (FR).

The N key: position, size and wear

The N key sits on the main typing block, among the most frequently pressed keys on the keyboard. Beyond typing, it drives the Ctrl + N shortcut, which opens a new window or document. With no metal wire under a one-unit cap, the N key rests entirely on its scissor hinge. A press at an angle, a fingernail slipped underneath or a vigorous clean is enough to tear one of its clips.

How to install it

Allow under a minute to refit the N key, bare-handed or with a plastic spudger: free the old hinge if it is broken, clip the new one in the same orientation, then press straight down on the cap until you feel a soft click.

N key — questions

Does this N keycap fit my Logitech MX Keys?
It does, full-size or Mini: the N key has the same one-unit cap on all four models. Only the legend depends on the layout — AZERTY (FR) for this one.
Is the hinge included with the N key?
Yes, the X-shaped hinge comes with the N key — it is often the part that broke. Only the rubber dome is not supplied: it stays in place on the keyboard under the N key, and domes are sold in packs among our spare parts.
I changed the cap on the N key, but it still types nothing — what now?
A key that goes down normally but types nothing points to the rubber dome, sold separately; if the N key wobbles, it is the hinge, supplied with it. When several keys next to the N key fail at the same time, the cause is inside the keyboard, not under the cap.

Check your keyboard's brand

You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
