Very easy to replace

2 minutes, no need to take the keyboard apart. No skills required.

  1. Lift the old key by one corner, straight up, with a fingernail or a spudger.
  2. Clip the supplied hinge onto its hooks.
  3. Set the new key on top and press the centre until it clicks.

Recommended tools for some keys

Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

About the P replacement key

A replacement P key for the Logitech MX Keys, supplied with its hinge: a letter that pops off, leans or stops typing is a one-minute repair, not a new keyboard. We take the P key from dismantled keyboards: it is a genuine, pre-owned Logitech cap, sold without the dome.

Compatibility

Across the letter and number block, the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac share the same one-unit cap, so this P keycap fits a full-size model and a Mini alike. Choose it by its legend — here, the AZERTY (FR) layout.

The P key: position, size and wear

The P key sits on the main typing block, among the most frequently pressed keys on the keyboard. It also does double duty in Ctrl + P, which opens the print dialog. Nothing steadies the P key apart from its scissor hinge: one-unit keys have no metal wire. A hinge split on one side makes it rock, and a torn clip lets it go at the first knock.

How to install it

Allow under a minute to refit the P key, bare-handed or with a plastic spudger: free the old hinge if it is broken, clip the new one in the same orientation, then press straight down on the cap until you feel a soft click.

P key — questions

Will the P key also fit an MX Keys Mini?
Yes, whichever version you have: this P keycap is a one-unit cap shared by the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac. Just check that your keyboard uses the AZERTY (FR) layout, so the printed characters match.
Is the hinge included with the P key?
Yes, the X-shaped hinge comes with the P key — it is often the part that broke. Only the rubber dome is not supplied: it stays in place on the keyboard under the P key, and domes are sold in packs among our spare parts.
I changed the cap on the P key, but it still types nothing — what now?
First try the P key on another computer or in another program, to rule out a setting. If it stays silent, look under the cap: with a split hinge it moves crooked; with a crushed or loose dome it goes down without typing.

Check your keyboard's brand

You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
