Very easy to replace

2 minutes, no need to take the keyboard apart. No skills required.

  1. Lift the old key by one corner, straight up, with a fingernail or a spudger.
  2. Clip the supplied hinge onto its hooks.
  3. Set the new key on top and press the centre until it clicks.

Recommended tools for some keys

Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

About the T replacement key

A replacement T key for the Logitech MX Keys, supplied with its hinge: a letter that pops off, leans or stops typing is a one-minute repair, not a new keyboard. No copy here: the T key comes, pre-owned, from a dismantled keyboard, and arrives without the rubber dome, which stays on yours.

Compatibility

This T keycap is a one-unit cap from the alphanumeric block: it clips onto the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac, which all use the same key size across that block. Only the legend changes from one layout to another; this one is AZERTY (FR).

The T key: position, size and wear

The T key sits on the main typing block, among the most frequently pressed keys on the keyboard. It also does double duty in Ctrl + T, which opens a new browser tab. Nothing steadies the T key apart from its scissor hinge: one-unit keys have no metal wire. A hinge split on one side makes it rock, and a torn clip lets it go at the first knock.

How to install it

The T key needs no tools: unhook the old cap at a corner, take out any remains of the hinge, clip the supplied hinge in flat, then press the new cap down until you hear the click.

T key — questions

Will the T key also fit an MX Keys Mini?
Yes. On the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac, every key of the letter and number block has the same one-unit cap, the T key included; what has to match is the layout, here AZERTY (FR).
Is the hinge included with the T key?
Yes. The hinge travels in the parcel with the T key, ready to fit; what you will not find is the rubber dome, which never leaves your keyboard and is sold separately if needed.
I changed the cap on the T key, but it still types nothing — what now?
A key that goes down normally but types nothing points to the rubber dome, sold separately; if the T key wobbles, it is the hinge, supplied with it. When several keys next to the T key fail at the same time, the cause is inside the keyboard, not under the cap.

Check your keyboard's brand

You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
