Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

About the V replacement key
A replacement V key for the Logitech MX Keys, supplied with its hinge: a letter that pops off, leans or stops typing is a one-minute repair, not a new keyboard. The V key is a genuine Logitech part, pre-owned, taken from a dismantled keyboard; the rubber dome is not supplied, as the one on your keyboard stays in place.
Compatibility
This V keycap is a one-unit cap from the alphanumeric block: it clips onto the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac, which all use the same key size across that block. Only the legend changes from one layout to another; this one is AZERTY (FR).
The V key: position, size and wear
The V key sits on the main typing block, among the most frequently pressed keys on the keyboard. Beyond typing, it drives the Ctrl + V shortcut, which pastes what was copied. Nothing steadies the V key apart from its scissor hinge: one-unit keys have no metal wire. A hinge split on one side makes it rock, and a torn clip lets it go at the first knock.
How to install it
No tools needed. Lift what is left of the old V key by one corner, straight up, clear away any pieces of hinge, clip the supplied hinge flat onto its anchor points, then set the new cap on top and press the centre until it clicks.
V key — questions
- Will this V keycap fit my MX Keys S?
- Yes. On the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac, every key of the letter and number block has the same one-unit cap, the V key included; what has to match is the layout, here AZERTY (FR).
- Is the hinge included with the V key?
- Yes: cap and hinge arrive together. The dome, the small rubber cup that makes the V key spring back, is not part of the order; the one on your keyboard is reused, and a spare dome can be ordered on its own.
- I changed the cap on the V key, but it still types nothing — what now?
- A key that goes down normally but types nothing points to the rubber dome, sold separately; if the V key wobbles, it is the hinge, supplied with it. When several keys next to the V key fail at the same time, the cause is inside the keyboard, not under the cap.
Check your keyboard's brand
You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
