Recommended tools for some keys
Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

About the D replacement key
A replacement D key for the Logitech MX Keys, supplied with its hinge: a letter that pops off, leans or stops typing is a one-minute repair, not a new keyboard. We take the D key from dismantled keyboards: it is a genuine, pre-owned Logitech cap, sold without the dome.
Compatibility
This D keycap is a one-unit cap from the alphanumeric block: it clips onto the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac, which all use the same key size across that block. Only the legend changes from one layout to another; this one is QWERTY (US).
The D key: position, size and wear
On the full-size MX Keys, the D key sits on the middle row, 3rd key to the right of Caps Lock. It is one of the eight home-row keys, where the left middle finger rests in touch typing. Beyond typing, it drives the Ctrl + D shortcut, which bookmarks the page in a browser. With no metal wire under a one-unit cap, the D key rests entirely on its scissor hinge. A press at an angle, a fingernail slipped underneath or a vigorous clean is enough to tear one of its clips.
How to install it
Fitting takes no tools. If the old hinge under the D key is split, remove its fragments; seat the one supplied, hold the new cap flat above it and press the middle — a click tells you it is held.
D key — questions
- Will this D keycap fit my MX Keys S?
- It does, full-size or Mini: the D key has the same one-unit cap on all four models. Only the legend depends on the layout — QWERTY (US) for this one.
- Is the hinge included with the D key?
- Yes. The D key ships with its scissor hinge, so it also fixes a key that lost its clip. The rubber dome under the D key is not included: yours stays on the keyboard, and a spare can be ordered separately if it is damaged.
- My D key still doesn't work after I replaced the cap — why?
- First try the D key on another computer or in another program, to rule out a setting. If it stays silent, look under the cap: with a split hinge it moves crooked; with a crushed or loose dome it goes down without typing.
Check your keyboard's brand
You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
