Recommended tools for some keys
Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

On these keyboards, this genuine MX Keys key takes the place of the official one: same scissor mechanism and mounting, with a legend and finish that may differ slightly.
Where is the Esc key and what does it do?
On a full-size Logitech MX Keys, the Esc key sits at the top left of the keyboard. It cancels the current action and closes a menu, a dialog box or full-screen mode. The small “fn” padlock printed on it is a reminder that Fn + Esc switches the top row between its drawn functions and F1 to F12.
About the Esc replacement key
Has your MX Keys lost its Esc key? This is the part on its own, hinge included, so the top row is complete again without a new keyboard. Genuine Logitech and pre-owned, the Esc key was removed from another keyboard; only the rubber dome is not included.
Compatibility
This Esc keycap fits the full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac), not the MX Keys Mini, whose top-row caps are shorter. The legend is that of the QWERTY (US) layout. On the MX Keys S, the top-row keys carry different icons, so this key will not match them exactly.
The Esc key: position, size and wear
Pressed less often than a letter, the Esc key wears more slowly, but its scissor hinge is just as thin: a fingernail, a cloth or an object resting on the keyboard that catches it sideways can tear a clip off.
How to install it
Lift the old Esc cap by a corner, remove the damaged hinge and clip in the one supplied. Lay the Esc key flat, then press the centre and each end: on a key wider than a letter, one side left unseated makes it lean.
Esc key — questions
- Where is the Esc key and what does it do?
- On a full-size Logitech MX Keys, the Esc key sits at the top left of the keyboard. It cancels the current action and closes a menu, a dialog box or full-screen mode. The small “fn” padlock printed on it is a reminder that Fn + Esc switches the top row between its drawn functions and F1 to F12.
- Is the Esc key compatible with my MX Keys keyboard?
- Yes on a full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac); no on the MX Keys Mini, whose top-row caps are shorter.
- Is the hinge included with the Esc key?
- Yes. The hinge travels in the parcel with the Esc key, ready to fit; what you will not find is the rubber dome, which never leaves your keyboard and is sold separately if needed.
- My Esc key feels loose or uneven after fitting — what should I check?
- Take the Esc cap off again and check that the hinge is clipped onto all its anchor points; if a metal wire sits under the key, make sure it is engaged in its clips. Then press the centre of the Esc key before its ends.
Check your keyboard's brand
You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
