Recommended tools for some keys
Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

On these keyboards, this genuine MX Keys key takes the place of the official one: same scissor mechanism and mounting, with a legend and finish that may differ slightly.
Where is the right Shift key and what does it do?
On a full-size Logitech MX Keys, the right Shift key sits on the right edge of the main block, below Enter, above the right Ctrl key. It does the same as the left Shift: held down, it types capitals and the upper character of dual-legend keys.
About the Shift (R) replacement key
A replacement Shift (R) key for the Logitech MX Keys, supplied with its hinge: a key used all day long, replaced on its own rather than with a new keyboard. The Shift (R) key is a genuine Logitech part, pre-owned, taken from a dismantled keyboard; the rubber dome is not supplied, as the one on your keyboard stays in place.
Compatibility
This Shift (R) keycap fits the full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac) in the QWERTY (ES) layout. The MX Keys Mini has its own proportions for this key, so this cap is not meant for it.
The Shift (R) key: position, size and wear
After the space bar, the right Shift is the longest key on the keyboard. It is held for capitals typed with the left hand, by the tip of the right little finger, near its left edge. On a cap this wide, an off-centre press loads only one side of the scissor hinge: that side is the one that splits, and the Shift (R) key then leans towards it or catches. The longer the key, the more a press at one end acts as a lever.
How to install it
No tools needed for the Shift (R) key: free the old cap from one end, clear the broken hinge and clip the new one in the same orientation. Should a metal wire run under the key, seat it in its clips before anything else, then press the middle and finish with both ends.
Shift (R) key — questions
- Where is the right Shift key and what does it do?
- On a full-size Logitech MX Keys, the right Shift key sits on the right edge of the main block, below Enter, above the right Ctrl key. It does the same as the left Shift: held down, it types capitals and the upper character of dual-legend keys.
- Is the Shift (R) key compatible with my MX Keys keyboard?
- Yes, if it is a full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac) in the QWERTY (ES) layout: the Shift (R) key has exactly this shape there. Not on the MX Keys Mini, where this key has other proportions.
- Is the hinge included with the Shift (R) key?
- Yes. The hinge travels in the parcel with the Shift (R) key, ready to fit; what you will not find is the rubber dome, which never leaves your keyboard and is sold separately if needed.
- My Shift (R) key no longer gives capitals — is it the key?
- Try the other Shift key. If that one works, it is indeed this key: its hinge or its dome. If neither responds, the fault is not in the cap.
Check your keyboard's brand
You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
