Recommended tools for some keys
Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

About the 1 / ! replacement key
Digit popping off or cap cracked on your MX Keys? This 1 / ! key, shipped with its scissor hinge, replaces it like for like. No copy here: the 1 / ! key comes, pre-owned, from a dismantled keyboard, and arrives without the rubber dome, which stays on yours.
Compatibility
Across the letter and number block, the MX Keys, MX Keys S, MX Keys Mini and MX Keys for Mac share the same one-unit cap, so this 1 / ! keycap fits a full-size model and a Mini alike. Choose it by its legend — here, the QWERTY (US) layout.
The 1 / ! key: position, size and wear
On the full-size MX Keys, the 1 / ! key sits on the number row, 2nd key from the left. It types 1 on its own; the symbol printed beside it needs Shift. With no metal wire under a one-unit cap, the 1 / ! key rests entirely on its scissor hinge. A press at an angle, a fingernail slipped underneath or a vigorous clean is enough to tear one of its clips.
How to install it
The 1 / ! key needs no tools: unhook the old cap at a corner, take out any remains of the hinge, clip the supplied hinge in flat, then press the new cap down until you hear the click.
1 / ! key — questions
- Will this 1 / ! keycap fit my MX Keys S?
- It does, full-size or Mini: the 1 / ! key has the same one-unit cap on all four models. Only the legend depends on the layout — QWERTY (US) for this one.
- Is the hinge included with the 1 / ! key?
- Yes. The hinge travels in the parcel with the 1 / ! key, ready to fit; what you will not find is the rubber dome, which never leaves your keyboard and is sold separately if needed.
- My 1 / ! key still doesn't work after I replaced the cap — why?
- If the 1 / ! key was unresponsive rather than physically broken, the fault usually lies in its scissor hinge, included here, or in the rubber dome underneath, sold separately. Replace the hinge first, then the dome if the 1 / ! key still feels mushy.
Check your keyboard's brand
You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
