The 8 / * key: position, size and wear
On the full-size MX Keys, the 8 / * key sits on the number row, 5th key to the left of Backspace. It types 8 on its own; the symbol printed beside it needs Shift. A key this size has no stabiliser, so all of its support comes from the X-shaped hinge and its four anchor points. When the 8 / * key starts to lean or comes away, that hinge is nearly always what failed, well before the cap.
How to install it
The 8 / * key needs no tools: unhook the old cap at a corner, take out any remains of the hinge, clip the supplied hinge in flat, then press the new cap down until you hear the click.

- Does this 8 / * keycap fit my Logitech MX Keys?
- It does, full-size or Mini: the 8 / * key has the same one-unit cap on all four models. Only the legend depends on the layout — QWERTY (US) for this one.
- Is the hinge included with the 8 / * key?
- Yes, the X-shaped hinge comes with the 8 / * key — it is often the part that broke. Only the rubber dome is not supplied: it stays in place on the keyboard under the 8 / * key, and domes are sold in packs among our spare parts.
- My 8 / * key still doesn't work after I replaced the cap — why?
- A key that goes down normally but types nothing points to the rubber dome, sold separately; if the 8 / * key wobbles, it is the hinge, supplied with it. When several keys next to the 8 / * key fail at the same time, the cause is inside the keyboard, not under the cap.
