Very easy to replace

2 minutes, no need to take the keyboard apart. No skills required.

  1. Lift the old key by one corner, straight up, with a fingernail or a spudger.
  2. Clip the supplied hinge onto its hooks.
  3. Set the new key on top and press the centre until it clicks.

Recommended tools for some keys

Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

Compatible with these Logitech keyboards

On these keyboards, this genuine MX Keys key takes the place of the official one: same scissor mechanism and mounting, with a legend and finish that may differ slightly.

Where is the Home key and what does it do?

On a full-size Logitech MX Keys, the Home key sits in the block to the right of Backspace, between Insert and Page Up, above End. It moves the cursor to the start of the line; Ctrl + Home jumps to the top of the document and Shift + Home selects to the start of the line.

About the Home replacement key

Home key broken or gone on your MX Keys? The key on its own, hinge included, goes back in place in a minute. We take the Home key from dismantled keyboards: it is a genuine, pre-owned Logitech cap, sold without the dome.

Compatibility

This Home keycap fits the full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac); the MX Keys Mini has no six-key navigation block. The legend is that of the QWERTZ (CH) layout.

The Home key: position, size and wear

The Home key is part of the six-key block (Insert, Home, Page Up, Delete, End, Page Down) between the main block and the keypad; the MX Keys Mini has no such block. Nothing under it but a scissor hinge, as on a letter key: when a clip tears, the key starts to tilt before it detaches.

How to install it

Allow under a minute to refit the Home key, bare-handed or with a plastic spudger: free the old hinge if it is broken, clip the new one in the same orientation, then press straight down on the cap until you feel a soft click.

Home key — questions

Where is the Home key and what does it do?
On a full-size Logitech MX Keys, the Home key sits in the block to the right of Backspace, between Insert and Page Up, above End. It moves the cursor to the start of the line; Ctrl + Home jumps to the top of the document and Shift + Home selects to the start of the line.
Will the Home key fit my MX Keys?
Yes on a full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac); the MX Keys Mini has no navigation block.
Is the hinge included with the Home key?
Yes. The Home key ships with its scissor hinge, so it also fixes a key that lost its clip. The rubber dome under the Home key is not included: yours stays on the keyboard, and a spare can be ordered separately if it is damaged.
My Home key stays dead despite a new cap — where is the fault?
If the Home key was unresponsive rather than physically broken, the fault usually lies in its scissor hinge, included here, or in the rubber dome underneath, sold separately. Replace the hinge first, then the dome if the Home key still feels mushy.

Check your keyboard's brand

You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
