Recommended tools for some keys
Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

On these keyboards, this genuine MX Keys key takes the place of the official one: same scissor mechanism and mounting, with a legend and finish that may differ slightly.
Where is the Insert key and what does it do?
On a full-size Logitech MX Keys, the Insert key sits in the block to the right of Backspace, to the left of Home, above Delete. It toggles between insert mode, where typed text slots in, and overtype mode, where it replaces the following characters. Text that disappears as you type often comes from pressing Insert by accident.
About the Insert replacement key
A Insert key for the Logitech MX Keys, supplied with its hinge, to replace a navigation key that cracked, wobbles or went missing. No copy here: the Insert key comes, pre-owned, from a dismantled keyboard, and arrives without the rubber dome, which stays on yours.
Compatibility
This Insert keycap fits the full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac); the MX Keys Mini has no six-key navigation block. The legend is that of the QWERTZ (CH) layout.
The Insert key: position, size and wear
The Insert key is part of the six-key block (Insert, Home, Page Up, Delete, End, Page Down) between the main block and the keypad; the MX Keys Mini has no such block. Nothing under it but a scissor hinge, as on a letter key: when a clip tears, the key starts to tilt before it detaches.
How to install it
Allow under a minute to refit the Insert key, bare-handed or with a plastic spudger: free the old hinge if it is broken, clip the new one in the same orientation, then press straight down on the cap until you feel a soft click.
Insert key — questions
- Where is the Insert key and what does it do?
- On a full-size Logitech MX Keys, the Insert key sits in the block to the right of Backspace, to the left of Home, above Delete. It toggles between insert mode, where typed text slots in, and overtype mode, where it replaces the following characters. Text that disappears as you type often comes from pressing Insert by accident.
- Is the Insert key compatible with my MX Keys keyboard?
- Yes on a full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac); the MX Keys Mini has no navigation block.
- Is the hinge included with the Insert key?
- Yes, the X-shaped hinge comes with the Insert key — it is often the part that broke. Only the rubber dome is not supplied: it stays in place on the keyboard under the Insert key, and domes are sold in packs among our spare parts.
- My Insert key stays dead despite a new cap — where is the fault?
- If the Insert key was unresponsive rather than physically broken, the fault usually lies in its scissor hinge, included here, or in the rubber dome underneath, sold separately. Replace the hinge first, then the dome if the Insert key still feels mushy.

You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
