Recommended tools for some keys
Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

On these keyboards, this genuine MX Keys key takes the place of the official one: same scissor mechanism and mounting, with a legend and finish that may differ slightly.
Where is the Esc key and what does it do?
On a full-size Logitech MX Keys, the Esc key sits at the top left of the keyboard. It cancels the current action and closes a menu, a dialog box or full-screen mode. The small “fn” padlock printed on it is a reminder that Fn + Esc switches the top row between its drawn functions and F1 to F12.
About the Esc replacement key
Has your MX Keys lost its Esc key? This is the part on its own, hinge included, so the top row is complete again without a new keyboard. A genuine salvaged part: the Esc key is taken, pre-owned, from a dismantled keyboard and shipped without a dome.
Compatibility
This Esc keycap fits the full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac), not the MX Keys Mini, whose top-row caps are shorter. The legend is that of the QWERTZ (DE) layout. On the MX Keys S, the top-row keys carry different icons, so this key will not match them exactly.
The Esc key: position, size and wear
The top row has no metal wires either: the cap is held by its X-shaped hinge alone, so a sideways knock while cleaning, or from something resting on the keys, is enough to unhook the Esc key.
How to install it
Lift the old Esc cap by a corner, remove the damaged hinge and clip in the one supplied. Lay the Esc key flat, then press the centre and each end: on a key wider than a letter, one side left unseated makes it lean.
Esc key — questions
- Where is the Esc key and what does it do?
- On a full-size Logitech MX Keys, the Esc key sits at the top left of the keyboard. It cancels the current action and closes a menu, a dialog box or full-screen mode. The small “fn” padlock printed on it is a reminder that Fn + Esc switches the top row between its drawn functions and F1 to F12.
- Is the Esc key compatible with my MX Keys keyboard?
- Yes on a full-size MX Keys (MX Keys, MX Keys S and MX Keys for Mac); no on the MX Keys Mini, whose top-row caps are shorter.
- Is the hinge included with the Esc key?
- Yes: cap and hinge arrive together. The dome, the small rubber cup that makes the Esc key spring back, is not part of the order; the one on your keyboard is reused, and a spare dome can be ordered on its own.
- My Esc key feels loose or uneven after fitting — what should I check?
- Take the Esc cap off again and check that the hinge is clipped onto all its anchor points; if a metal wire sits under the key, make sure it is engaged in its clips. Then press the centre of the Esc key before its ends.
Check your keyboard's brand
You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
