Recommended tools for some keys

Optional but handy: the spudger lifts the key without scratching or bending the mechanism, and the thin blade of the flat screwdriver unhooks the plastic hinge and helps clip it back in.

About the Bluetooth 2 replacement key

The Bluetooth 2 key from the top row of the Logitech MX Keys, supplied with its hinge, to replace a key that cracked, was torn off or got lost. No copy here: the Bluetooth 2 key comes, pre-owned, from a dismantled keyboard, and arrives without the rubber dome, which stays on yours.

Compatibility

This Bluetooth 2 keycap is cut for QWERTZ (DE) keyboards and fits the MX Keys Mini only. The full-size MX Keys uses a different geometry for this key — on the Mini, the function row is shorter, the arrows are half-height keys and the modifiers are narrower. Only letters, digits and special characters, all 1U, swap between the two chassis. The legend matches the QWERTZ (DE) layout.

The Bluetooth 2 key: position, size and wear

The Bluetooth 2 key belongs to the top row, which drives shortcuts, media and brightness. Pressed less often than a letter, the Bluetooth 2 key wears more slowly, but its scissor hinge is just as thin: a fingernail, a cloth or an object resting on the keyboard that catches it sideways can tear a clip off.

How to install it

Fitting takes no tools. If the old hinge under the Bluetooth 2 key is split, remove its fragments; seat the one supplied, hold the new cap flat above it and press the middle — a click tells you it is held.

Guide: removing an MX Keys key without breaking the clip

Bluetooth 2 key — questions

Does this Bluetooth 2 keycap fit my Logitech MX Keys?
Only if that keyboard is an MX Keys Mini. On the full-size MX Keys this key does not have the same geometry, so the cap will not seat. Letters, digits and special characters are the ones that swap freely between the two chassis — this key is not one of them.
Is the hinge included with the Bluetooth 2 key?
Yes. The Bluetooth 2 key ships with its scissor hinge, so it also fixes a key that lost its clip. The rubber dome under the Bluetooth 2 key is not included: yours stays on the keyboard, and a spare can be ordered separately if it is damaged.
My Bluetooth 2 key still doesn't work after I replaced the cap — why?
If the Bluetooth 2 key was unresponsive rather than physically broken, the fault usually lies in its scissor hinge, included here, or in the rubber dome underneath, sold separately. Replace the hinge first, then the dome if the Bluetooth 2 key still feels mushy.

Check your keyboard's brand

You are looking at a Logitech key. Keycap and hinge differ between brands: this key will not fit an Apple keyboard.
